Top 10 Ice Makers
1. Silonn Ice Maker Countertop, 9 Cubes Ready in 6 Mins, 26lbs in 24Hrs, Self-Cleaning Ice
Helpful Review:
Being initially dubious about the Silonn Ice Maker due to its economical price and lesser-known brand, I became pleasantly surprised with its performance. Initial impressions weren’t favourable, generating sparse, oddly-shaped ice.
Contacting the manufacturer led to a replacement, and since then, it’s been nothing short of exceptional.
The ice-making capability is astounding, meeting the demands of a bustling office in just a few hours. Only needing to operate three days a week, its sheer productivity could likely create mounds of ice enough to rival Scrooge McDuck’s treasure trove.
Coupled with the manufacturer’s commendable customer service, I wholeheartedly recommend the Silonn Ice Maker. It’s not only efficient but also boasts a quiet operation and self-cleaning features.
Its portable design makes it an excellent choice for both home and travel scenarios such as RV trips. In retrospect, I wouldn’t hesitate to buy it again.

Critical Review:
While the Silonn Ice Maker Countertop initially seems practical and efficient, producing 9 cubes in just 6 minutes and holding up to 26 lbs in 24 hours, it has its downfalls. On first use, you must set a cleaning cycle and ensure that it’s filled to a specific level to avoid melting ice.
Despite these precautions, the machine’s sensors still required constant cleaning. The unrelenting hum of the machine dominates your home as it must be run 24/7 to avoid damage from power surges.
An even bigger concern is the exhausting upkeep the ice maker demands; frequently adjusting the basket, guarding it from heat to avoid fast-melting ice, and transporting it to different rooms. Even after following meticulous care and use guidelines, the fan quit within months.
This turned into a customer service nightmare involving an inconvenient return process. The value of this product failed to live up to its substantial costs.

2. FRIGIDAIRE EFIC189-Silver Compact Ice Maker, 26 lb per Day, Silver (Packaging May Vary)
Helpful Review:
The FRIGIDAIRE EFIC189-Silver Compact Ice Maker has emerged as a reliable solution for our recurring ice shortages, making us wonder why we didn’t purchase it sooner. Contrary to misconceptions, this countertop ice maker isn’t designed to store ice like a freezer, but rather, continually recycles melted ice to deliver a refreshing 26 lbs.
of ice daily – an impressive feat that it elegantly executes.
Do note that ice from this appliance differs slightly from freezer-preserved ice, which withstands heat better due to its lower temperature. However, the quick remedy of bagging and freezing the FRIGIDAIRE EFIC189-produced ice is unnecessary unless you’re planning outdoor ventures.
Indoor consumption tastes perfectly cool right out of the machine.
The appliance shines with simplicity and quality, notifying you with lights instead of disruptive beeps. Equipped with an automatic pause-resume feature, this ice-maker adeptly maintains a steady supply while ensuring a full basket doesn’t hinder its efficient operation.
Draining the remaining water after use can be tricky due to an inconveniently-placed drain plug, but a simple solution I’ve adopted is using a microfiber towel for absorption, followed by leaving the lid open for drying.
Thanks to this game-changing ice-maker, drinking my doctor-prescribed increased water intake with ice has turned into a welcoming experience. Aesthetically pleasing, this compact machine seamlessly fits into our kitchen space without overcrowding and the longer cord grants it flexibility of placement.
I’m so satisfied with its performance, I’m considering buying another for home use. With the FRIGIDAIRE EFIC189-Silver Compact Ice Maker, every refreshing sip of cool water is a testament to its exceptional convenience, performance, and value for money.

Critical Review:
We bought the FRIGIDAIRE EFIC189-Silver Compact Ice Maker with the hope it would outlast our previous icemaker. Unfortunately, it failed quicker.
Despite initial great performance, it abruptly stopped making ice. The process to get help was tiresome, involving multiple calls and emails.
They even required us to provide pictures of various parts of the machine and cover the whopping return shipping cost of $39 ourselves. Now we’re left waiting for our refund.
We’ve learnt our lesson and will stick to local stores like Best Buy with reliable warranty protection for future purchases.

3. GE Profile Opal | Countertop Nugget Ice Maker | Portable Ice Machine Complete with Bluetooth
Helpful Review:
The GE Profile Opal Nugget Ice Maker is indeed a sound investment despite its higher price point. From frequent trips to Sonic for sizable icy concoctions, it was a joy to nix the often grubby ice and instead enjoy perfectly bite-sized and chewable ices created by this machine at home.
Despite initial hardness of the ice cubes, an hour’s wait results in the ultimate crunchiness and flavor. While it may produce some noise, particularly with low water levels, its ease of use, suitable size for counter tops, and the riveting joy guests find in the chewy ice outbalance the sound.
Instances of malfunction might occur but their efficient and rapid response for replacement is commendable. Regular upkeep is essential to ensure long-lasting functionality.
The gem of this ice maker? Unparalleled nugget ice.

Critical Review:
The GE Profile Opal Countertop Nugget Ice Maker seems promising, but I was disappointed by the persistent problems I encountered. I’ve tried three machines in less than two months, each malfunctioning with a disruptive hammering noise.
The situation became critical when one machine exhibited a burning smell, making the right side extremely hot. Despite my hopes for refurbished replacements, the nightmare with GE service saw me receiving poorly maintained machines.
Ultimately, I’m left waiting for my 6th replacement, regretting this purchase greatly.

4. AGLUCKY Ice Makers Countertop with Self-Cleaning, 26.5lbs/24hrs, 9 Cubes Ready in 6~8Mins, Portable Ice Machine
Helpful Review:
The AGLUCKY Ice Maker is an impressive appliance that ensures a ready supply of ice while being mindful of spatial constraints. While it is unable to keep ice frozen for long, its clever design means the melting ice is automatically recycled into the water reservoir for reuse.
Although it requires regular emptying to stave off melting, the high yield of ice, available after just 2-3 hours of operation, makes it an ideal pick for ice enthusiasts. The motor may be audible, but that’s a small price to pay for the sheer convenience it offers.
It doubles as a viable substitute for temperamental fridge ice makers, delivering generously sized cubes on its large setting. Shop smart, choose AGLUCKY.
Reviewed by : Ruth LaMarr pjindy
Critical Review:
The AGLUCKY Ice Makers Countertop delivers on speed and compactness, but falls short in some essential aspects. Its ice bucket capacity is disappointingly limited, necessitating constant monitoring and emptying for continuous ice production.
Plus, it’s rather noisy, limiting suitable placement options. Regrettably, the ice emerges wet, leading to an unnecessary hassle of freezing, clump-breaking, and transferring to avoid a lumpy mess.
The unknown staying time for ice in the machine, before melt initiates, is another loose end. Overall, it’s a middling product.

5. EUHOMY Ice Maker Countertop Machine – 26 lbs in 24 Hours, 9 Cubes Ready in
Helpful Review:
The Euhomy Ice Maker Countertop Machine is an indispensable addition to our family gatherings. The speed at which it produces ice is phenomenal—nine cubes in as little as 8 minutes.
Its compact design fits seamlessly into my kitchen setup, while simple controls make it user-friendly. The size and quality of the ice cubes are exceptional.
What struck me the most was its well-calibrated water reservoir – full reservoir stood up to our everyday demands.
After a few cycles, the machine was up and running efficiently, delivering a sizeable amount of ice within an hour.
Although some reviews mentioned the ice melting quickly, I found that swiftly transferring the ice to the freezer can easily mitigate this. The ‘wet’ ice issue was also non-problematic as breaking up the large frozen chunk was feasible.
The Euhomy Ice Maker’s sleek design and clarity of the display enhance its overall appeal. Although it produces a slight noise when the ice is released, it’s nothing that isn’t bearable.
One minor drawback was the ice heap triggering the Full Basket sensor prematurely, but a quick check and nudge of the ice remedied this.
A bonus was the inclusion of an ice scoop, though note that it doesn’t have a dedicated storage spot on the machine.
Nevertheless, overall, I’m deeply satisfied with this product and excited for it to be a crowd-pleaser over the holiday season. It effortlessly addresses the panic of running out of ice or relying on the forgetfulness of a guest to bring ice.

Critical Review:
The Euhomy Ice Maker Countertop Machine proved to be a disappointment before even being put to use. The product description promised a self-cleaning system, which pushed me to make the purchase.
However, a disheartening surprise awaited as the manual clarified the need for manual cleaning. Only time will tell if the machine performs up to standards.

6. CROWNFUL Portable Countertop Ice Maker Machine, 9 Bullet Ice Cubes Ready in 7-10 Mins, 33
Helpful Review:
Having been let down by a previous, less potent ice machine, I was initially hesitant to take the plunge with Crownful’s Portable Countertop Ice Maker Machine. Nevertheless I took a leap of faith, and boy, was my skepticism unfounded.
This powerhouse delivers perfectly textured, bullet-shaped ice cubes in just 7 minutes. With a 33lb/24hr production rate and an option to tailor ice size, it has all but exceeded my expectations.
What sets this machine apart is its automatic self-cleaning feature and thoughtful design elements like a stainless steel exterior and foam insulated interior. Not to mention it simply sings alongside our liquor cabinet, ready to enliven our refreshing beverages.
The silence of its operation is only broken by the gratifying clatter of ice cascading into the capacious basket. For a family of four like ours, it’s nothing short of a godsend.
Crownful’s Ice Maker elicits nothing but accolades.

Critical Review:
Prepare for disappointment with the CROWNFUL Portable Countetop Ice Maker Machine. After just over a year of gentle use, our unit inexplicably ceased operation.
Despite providing substantial evidence of malfunction, the company’s customer service proved unyielding in addressing our need for a replacement or repair. Their sole proposition of a 35% discount on a new purchase merely added salt to the wound.
This ice maker performs admirably, until the day it doesn’t, and the non-supportive attitude of the company is a deal-breaker.

7. Frigidaire EFIC235-AMZ Countertop Crunchy Chewable Nugget Ice Maker, 44lbs per day, Self Cleaning Function
Helpful Review:
The Frigidaire EFIC235-AMZ Ice Maker has been a game-changer. Its ability to make fantastic, nugget style ice similar to that which you’d find in your favorite restaurants gives drinks a unique charm.
There’s something satisfying about ice that has a pleasant, chewable texture. However, it is essential to give the machine time to adjust after unpacking – a day or two ideally.
It does come with its own set of pros and cons. I stress the need for the warranty, given it’s not a cheap appliance.
Another caveat, the ice maker requires regular maintenance. After about a month, I noticed it was surprisingly dirty, leading to my commitment to fortnightly cleans, especially if you’re dealing with hard water that can cause build-ups.
The noise level is bearable, louder if you’re in the same room, but it goes unnoticed if you’re in a different space. About a month in, I experienced a distinctive low whine; I suspect it might come about when it’s overfilled.
Despite some minor issues, such as overfilling the drip tray, I am utterly smitten with this ice maker. Its capacity to hold a gallon of water minimizes frequent refills and has significantly increased our family’s water intake, a bonus.
Simply put, this gadget has been a valuable addition – saving trips to gas stations and unknown quality ice. Remember, cleaning and maintenance are paramount – treat it as an investment, and it will give back.

Critical Review:
The Frigidaire EFIC235-AMZ Nugget Ice Maker was quite a disappointment. It initially delivered delightfully crunchy ice that my mother had a penchant for but soon after, the machine’s design flaws proved insufferable.
Its inconsiderate design led to water leaking from the door and dreadful black mold. The guidance to slightly tilt the unit proved unhelpful.
Furthermore, it soon started to exhibit signs of internal leakage followed by a sudden operational stoppage characterized by unpleasant noises. Delving into the machine’s architecture reveals a copied design from Scotsman, made worse by its careless implementation.
The seals, prone to leakage, lead to mechanical exposure and ensuing rust. Add to this, the additional woes of potentially harmful metal shavings appearing courtesy of the scoring auger.
Contacting Curtis, the maker for Frigidaire, with video evidence of the machine’s breakdown only led to an extortionate warranty that required a $65 shipping fee. Alas, even my purchased extended warranty brings no respite, as the manufacturer’s warranty must lapse first.
To put it succinctly, steer clear of these overpriced, substandard Curtis machines. Their lack of product support and subpar design is profoundly disappointing.

8. Nugget Ice Maker, Qualeben Countertop Ice Maker Machine 26lb/Day, Self-Cleaning, Auto Water Refill Crunchy Chewable
Helpful Review:
Having used the Qualeben Countertop Ice Maker non-stop for two months now, I’ve found it to be a reliable and practical addition to my kitchen. The machine, though it started making a bit of noise and had a hiccup in ice production at one point, impressed me with its fantastic customer service and swift replacement.
It’s a much-loved upgrade from my previous units, producing top-notch nugget ice, with easy operation and cleaning, and generally runs very quietly. Yes, there could be an occasional defect due to mass production, but Qualeben’s apt and swift response is commendable.
It was a smart choice for me to buy this ice maker after months of buying ice from fast-food outlets, it certainly makes the best ice. Despite a slight noise when operating, it’s a great little machine that produces just the right amount of ice for my requirements.
I’m exceptionally pleased with this machine.

Critical Review:
The Qualeben Countertop Ice Maker Machine is a letdown in terms of longevity and customer support. Though it excels in quickly producing enjoyable nugget ice, and the noise eventually fades into the background, its lifespan doesn’t justify the price.
After only five months, we experienced a persistent leak that persisted despite troubleshooting efforts. Attempts to contact the manufacturer have been met with silence—a disappointing end for what seemed to be a promising ice maker.

9. FRIGIDAIRE EFIC452-SS 40 Lbs Extra Large Clear Maker, Stainless Steel, Makes Square Ice
Helpful Review:
Just a few days into owning the FRIGIDAIRE EFIC452-SS Extra Large Clear Maker and it’s safe to say it’s an absolute game-changer. After struggling with my consumption needs using a bullet-style ice maker that just wasn’t able to keep up, this large model has me grinning ear to ear.
Set up was straightforward, though a slight hiccup occurred when it was time to drain the reservoir. Much to my surprise, it isn’t manual.
The machine had to be plugged in for the draining process to work which, unfortunately, the manual failed to explain. As for ice production, it’s brilliant, with sturdy, clear cubes created in about 15-20 minutes.
As a drink connoisseur, using chilled, filtered water from the fridge has expedited the process. With the EFIC452-SS, the ice is clear, sturdy, and melts slowly which is greatly beneficial for my beverages.
Storage is a breeze since dumping the ice in brushed sheets makes it easy to bag for later. This machine is a workhorse and absolutely worth the price.
Do bear in mind, it’s a tad larger than your regular bullet-style makers. But I find its performance and ice quality unsurpassed.
Critical Review:
The FRIGIDAIRE EFIC452-SS 40 Lbs Extra Large Clear Maker turned out to be a dud. After six months, it simply gave up.
The LCD panel went blank and it repeatedly malfunctioned, causing a puddle of mess. Dealing with Curtis International, Frigidaire’s product support, felt like navigating a bureaucratic nightmare, with confusing, repetitive email exchanges and limited customer service accessibility.
This unit came with an unexpected requirement: owning a smartphone or a video camera to document the defect. The disheartening customer support saga continues.

10. Ice Maker Countertop Machine, 9 Bullet Ice Cubes Ready in 6 Mins, 22lbs Ice Cubes
Helpful Review:
The Ice Maker Countertop Machine really revolutionized my beverage game. Its ability to output 9 ice cubes within an impressive 6 minutes had me drinking more iced drinks and staying cool over the summers.
This was the ideal solution for my small home with a mini-fridge sans ice maker. However, I found myself reading a “no/low water” warning on the LCD display, despite the water tank being full – a potential issue with the water pump.
Efforts to secure a replacement from the manufacturer were, unfortuantely, somewhat tricky and less fruitful. Its self-cleaning feature was a big plus, averting any need for manual labor.
And yes, the sound of ice falling can cause a surprise jolt at night, maybe consider switching it off before heading to bed. Reliability concerns notwithstanding, this is a useful little gadget for any ice lovers out there.

Critical Review:
The Ice Maker Countertop Machine was a disappointment. Bought it in September and by late November it was fully non-functional.
Despite troubleshooting and trying customer service, it flatlined. You get about five minutes of mild noise, zero chill, no ice, and then it simply switches off.
If you decide to gamble on this one, consider the extended warranty – the odds aren’t in your favour. Definitely not a re-purchase for me.

How to choose the best Ice Maker
Buying an ice maker can greatly ease your routine of getting fresh ice whenever you need it. No more waiting for water to freeze or dealing with messy ice trays. However, as with any appliance, there are certain factors you should consider before buying an ice maker to make sure it meets your specific needs. Here is a comprehensive buying guide to assist you.
1. **Types of Ice Makers**
There are generally three types of ice makers: under-counter, countertop, and portable. Under-counter ice makers are usually larger, need dedicated space, and are usually integrated into your kitchen’s aesthetics. Countertop ice makers are compact, require less space, but may not produce as much ice. Portable ones are excellent for camping or parties, where ice requirement is not continuous.
2. **Capacity & Size**
Look at the total capacity of the ice maker and how much it can make at a given time. Some produce just a few cubes per batch, while others can make enough for a party in a single cycle. Also, consider the storage capacity. If it’s too small, you’ll need to constantly remove ice to make more. Also, consider the space you have when choosing the size.
3. **Speed**
Not all ice makers produce ice at the same rate. Some machines may only take a few minutes to deliver your ice, while others might take longer. Think about how often you’ll need fresh ice and how quickly.
4. **Type of Ice**
Ice makers produce different types of ice, including clear ice, nugget ice, or gourmet ice. If you have a preference for a certain type of ice, look for a machine that produces it.
5. **Energy and Water Efficiency**
Check the energy and water usage of the machine. An Energy Star rated machine can save you money on your bills and help the environment. Some models also reuse melted ice to make more ice.
6. **Noise Level**
Ice makers can be noisy appliances. If the noise is an issue for you, look for quiet operation machines.
7. **Ease of Installation & Maintenance**
Some models might require a dedicated water line and professional installation, while others just need to be plugged into an outlet and filled with water. Regular cleaning is also crucial for hygienic ice, so opt for a machine with an accessible and easy-clean design.
8. **Aesthetic**
If the machine will be prominently placed in your kitchen or bar, you might want to consider its design. Stainless steel units often look sleek and modern, while others may offer different colors.
9. **Price**
Ice makers can range in cost. Set a budget and try to find the best one within that price range. Remember, more expensive doesn’t always mean better.
10. **Warranty**
Ideally, your ice maker should serve you for many years. A solid warranty period of at least a year is essential.
Remember, the best ice maker for you will depend on your specific needs and constraints. Take your time, do your homework, and compare different models. That way, you can ensure you’ve picked an ice maker that serves you well.
Conclusion:
The top 10 best ice makers include compact and portable devices, perfect for home and small commercial use. The top-performing ones like Euhomy Ice Maker Machine, GE Profile Opal, and Dreamiracle Ice Maker stand out for their speed, ice quality, and ease of use.
Others like Vremi Countertop Ice Maker, Frigidaire EFIC103, and IKICH Portable Ice Maker are praised for their elegant design and reliable performance. Igloo ICEB26SS with a stainless steel design and NewAir AI-215SS with self-cleaning feature are also excellent choices.
Crownful Ice Maker and hOmeLabs Portable Ice Maker offer user-friendly controls, low noise operation, and high efficiency. Each model has its own unique features, but most have a fast ice-making cycle, various ice sizes, and easy-to-use controls, enhancing their performance and user experience.
